It's important to learn from someone with experience - check out the governing bodies below for additional resources and to find a club/instructor in your area!
Equipment Resources/Basic Guidelines
These are items we have used and recommend. Please always consult with your governing body prior to using any equipment in competition. Additional information on allowable gear etc can be found on your governing body website (see above!)
Bows – must have no arrow shelves, rests cut-out windows, stabilizers, weights or mechanical releases, generally under 54” in length, 20-40lbs draw is most common. Most people shoot with a 30-35lb bow.

Mid and higher end bows
Arrows – wood arrows are not recommended (disallowed in some national competition guidelines) generally people use a 4 or 3 fletched arrow. Target or field points only. Arrows should be longer than your draw length to avoid shooting through your hand. Speed nocks are recommended (Vermil Archery)
Simple starter arrows (4 fletched) – No Frontiers Archery
Higher End – Vermil Archery (vermilarchery.com)
Quivers – Back or hip quivers are recommended – must be attached to the rider, not the horse. May not be attached to the arm or lower leg (below the knee). Arrow tips must not be exposed beyond the quiver. Mounted archery specific quivers are recommended as they secure each individual arrow so as to not startle the horse or come lose in the event of a fall.
Quivers – Alibow (alibowshop.com)
Targets – Target faces are 80cm for the track, 90cm for Tower. Any variety of target faces (80cm, 90cm, Merida etc) or shapes (animals, zombies) can be used for hunt.
